Are you financing a new home in Raleigh? Michelle Conway, Broker, ABR, CRS can help.
Stressed out about applying for a mortgage? You don't have to be.
I've got great connections to many mortgage lenders in Raleigh, and they've helped me understand a few things that can make the loan application process easy.
1 – Compose a list of questions regarding your loan program
If you find that you don't perfectly understand the ins and outs of the different programs, be sure you have a list of questions.
I or one of my lenders will be able to assist you in understanding the advantages and disadvantages of each program, because it's hard to understand the distinctions between both fixed and adjustable rate mortgages.
2 – Determine when to lock
When you lock in the rate, the mortgage lender is guaranteed to keep to the mortgage interest rates for the loan – usually at the time the loan application is received.
By floating the rate, you can lock the rate anytime between the day you apply for your loan and closing. Buyers who choose to float think that interest rates will drop in the near future. Click here to see the outlook for the next 90 days of interest rates.
3 – Decide if you want to pay additional points to reduce your rate
When you decide to pay additional points to lower the interest rate of your mortgage loan, you will do so by paying for them in cash at the time of closing. Every point is 1 percent of the loan.
Click here to use our points calculator. It will help you decide if buying points is the best option for you.
4 – Gather your paperwork
Obtaining a loan requires a lot of paperwork, so you should spend some time getting your documentation together. Click here to get a feel for typical information that goes on a loan application.
